The latest restaurant from acclaimed Pittsburgh Chef of the Year Toni Pais, featuring Portuguese cross-cultural cuisine, is open for lunch and dinner. The restaurant's sophisticated ambience and menu attracts patrons from across the region. Hand selected wines are imported especially to compliment the cuisine. Toni Pais, a native of Portugal, has owned the upscale, highly acclaimed Baum Vivant and the less-formal Café Zihno in Shadyside since 1999. Café Zao (which translates to "big café" in Portuguese) occupies 3,000 square feet within the Theater Square complex located in the heart of the Cultural District on Penn Avenue, Downtown. Reservations are essential. Please call 412.325.7007 to ensure a table, and if dining before shows allow two hours before curtain time. Parking is available in the Theatre Square garage located on 7th Street and Fort Duquesne Boulevard.
